Solid Waste and Recycling

Solid Waste (Garbage) collection service in the City of Woodward is provided by Walter's Sanitary Service of Boone, IA. 

Collection Days are each FRIDAY.

Large Garbage bins are provided at each residence and MUST stay with the residence if the occupant moves.  If your container is damaged or stolen please call Walters for a repair, replacement or additional cart.      515-432-2866

Recycling is also offered through Walters Sanitary, in conjunction with Genesis Development and in cooperation with the Boone County Landfill.  Recycling Pickup days are the 2nd and 4th FRIDAY of each month.  A Green Recycling tote can be obtained by calling Walter's Sanitary.

There are restrictions on what is collected and accepted for recycling. 

Do Recycle the following:

Corrugated Cardboard:  Please keep separate from ALL other recyclables

Mixed Paper:  Newspaper, junk mail, tissue boxes, cereal boxes, stationary, magazines, paper towel rolls

Glass:  Clear bottles or jars only.

Plastic:  #1 and #2 plastic bottles and containers ONLY.

Metal:  Tin cans and aluminum foil

DO NOT recycle the following:

Pizza boxes, waxed cardboard, coated chipboard used for cold/frozen food or beverages, Tyvek (plastic envelopes), used tissue paper, used paper towels, colored glass, window glass, light bulbs, plastic towys, Styrofoam of any type, plastic numbers #3 through #7, shopping bags, plant packaging, coat hangers, metal pipes, tools, cloth, material, or cell phones.
